Hey everyone! I recently purchased a Josefina off ebay... I got her in the mail today to see both good and bad...
Seller stated she was Mattel... good news is I got her in the mail and shes in a Pleasant Company Germany white box and has Pleasant Company on the back of her neck.. she is also in flawless, never played with condition... only problem is on her face she has this blemish on the very end of her nose... it looks like a flaw in the plastic..... it looks almost like a scrape and is very noticeable to me, but I am wondering if I am being too picky considering she is older and its hard to find her in this good of condition...... if I sent her to AG they would place a non-PC head on her and thats why I like her....... I dont know what to do... if I display her you cant see the blemish from a distance, only when you get up close...... besides the blemish she is in IMMACULATE CONDITION! Help! -Jamie
ps... I am going to put some pictures up so you all can see what I am taking about... thanks

Buff it out with MicroMesh. Use 1800 grit and sand lightly, then follow up with 2400 grit. It is really fine modelists' sandpaper. It's great for removing scratches/rubs and will restore the satin finish to her vinyl.

Is it a shiny scratch on her vinyl? If so, MicroMesh will fix it. I know using sandpaper sounds a bit skeevy, but 1800 and 2400 are incredibly fine. It's not at all like the stuff you find at the hardware store. You won't wear away the end of her nose or make more shiny scratch marks or anything like that. Trust me on this. My girls have been subjected to MicroMeshing on a regular basis. Their adventures can be a bit...errr...rough on them.

It is a small rub on the end of her nose... I just tried using some baking soda with water and it actually dimmed it quite a bit, I can still tell its there but its not as " shiny" as it was before... I think I will get some micromesh and touch it up a little more... do I buy it at a hardware store or a craft store? Thanks so much for all your advice!

Mr.Clean magic eraser will also buff out scuffs and shiny spots very well.

One more question... any way to fix the legs? I noticed one is slightly longer than the other and she stands very crooked.... minor imperfection I guess.....

Wow! She is a really pretty Josie! Isn't it amazing how some dolls just have more "zing" than others...even though they're technically the "same" doll?
I'm not sure what the deal is with her legs. Do the elastic cords look OK and unfrayed? If so, it may just be the way her body is sewn together.
I've heard that you can get Micro Mesh at Hobby Lobby. I got mine online. There are many sources, including...

That mark on her nose looks like the little rub marks dolls can get when their noses rub against the top of their box. My Kailey has a faint one, and my Kaya had a really bad one when I first took her out of the box. I did a wash with baking soda, like you did, and it made it much less noticeable. It's still there, but by now I just think of it as a distinguishing feature that makes Kaya my own. I'd try the suggestions here about the sandpaper and the magic eraser if you want it gone completely - I've heard great success stories about both of those cleaning methods.
